The North Clay
Academic Foundation

Established December 10, 2002

North Clay Community Unit School District #25
Elementary, Junior, and Senior High School
South Route 45
Louisville, Illinois 62858

For the past 3 years, the foundation has given at least two $500 scholarships, held the honors banquet, funded half of the Virtuous Reality program startup costs, helped Enrichment fund a trip to Space Camp, and many other smaller amounts to complete necessary monies for other otherwise extra additions to existing programs.

What is the North Clay Academic Foundation?

The mission of the Foundation is to promote student development, teaching excellence, technological advancements in classroom instruction, enhancement of educational facilities and programs, and facilitation of community and school cooperation.

The Foundation represents the community commitment to providing financial support that will enhance, supplement, and expand the educational opportunities of the students of North Clay Community Unit School District #25.

A governing board that represents the whole community is carrying out this mission. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established and operated under the auspices of the Board of Education of the North Clay Community Unit School District No. 25, Counties of Clay and Effingham; however, all financial decisions are made by the Foundation members.

The goals and objectives of the Foundation are:

  • To stimulate and enhance community pride and support for education.
  • To promote membership in the Foundation that reflects community demographics.
  • To determine the most appropriate expenditures of Foundation resources that will help to provide special learning experiences for the student.

Questions and Answers:

Q. Is the Foundation part of the Board of Education?
No. The North Clay Academic Foundation operates under the umbrella of the School Board but has complete control of its projects and expenditures.

Q. Who governs the Foundation?
A governing board comprised of community members and school faculty determine the activities of the Foundation. They are currently appointed but, in the future, the academic foundation board will elect members to serve on the board per approval by the Board of Education.

Q. How will Foundation money be spent?
Teachers and other individuals in the district can submit project proposals to the Foundation. These might include requests for special equipment, field trips, programs and presentations, and other special activities that are not covered in the regular school budget. Projects that support rather than duplicate existing programs will receive priority. In this way, the Foundation hopes to expand educational experiences for the students.

Q. How can I participate?
The Foundation is newly formed so the suggestions of the community are welcomed. The Foundation hopes to be able to promote education and educational opportunities in the North Clay Community Unit School District for all the students who attend elementary, junior high, or high school classes. If anyone has an idea for fulfilling the goals and objectives set forth in the mission statement, please fill out the membership form and write down your idea.
